A Night for Nepal at a church in Cromer

2017: Norfolk musicians the Walker Brothers, will be performing at St Martins Church in Cromer to raise funds for Nepal. Tony Rothe reports.

The Walker Brothers, namesake of the famous famous band from the 1960's and 70's, will be performing in Cromer on Saturday April 1 to raise funds to help rebuild homes and lives after Nepal’s severe earthquakes. The concert will include many songs from the 60's and 70's.

All money raised will go to the National Mission Commission of Nepal, headed up by Ram Prasad Shrestha. The mission aims to train folk to share the Gospel and plant a church in in each village of Nepal, but it also seeks to show Christ's love where it sees social needs.

Since the recent earthquake, it has rebuilt a few dozen houses for those whose homes were destroyed by earthquakes.  It has ministries to men in prisons and in Kathmandu's slums, where it runs after-school clubs and is training some mothers to sew, and providing them with sewing machines to help lift them from real poverty.  Ram was in Nepal last year, and received a cheque for £800 from the last concert.

The concert takes place from 7.30pm until 10.30pm on Saturday April 1. Tickets are £10 (concessions £8), and include refreshments.

St Martins is on Mill Road in Cromer, NR27 0AD.

Tickets are available from: Upstairs- Downstairs, Church Street, Cromer;
or Curtis’ Garage, Cromer Rd, Overstrand.
