Norfolk Christian Football League chairman Mike Culwick has stood down from the role after seven years in charge and vice-chairman Jim Green has taken his place.

At the recent AGM of the league, Mike retired from the role and Jim was unanimously elected as the new chairman.

Jim paid tribute to the tireless work Mike had done over the years in support of the leagues, its teams and competitions.

"Whether it was marking out pitches at Heartsease, meeting people to work through problems, refereeing, making drinks at games, meeting with our colleagues at Norfolk FA, poring over the minutiae of rule changes, or talking and praying things over in committee, we are hugely grateful for the amount of work Mike has put in.

“And there has never been any doubt, from his addresses in managers’ meetings and contributions in committee, that while Mike was passionate about football, he has been more passionate about his Christian faith,” said Jim.

At the AGM Jim suggested that the distinctivness of the league was not just in building friendships through competitive, sporting football games, but also in the fact that at all levels of our activity, prayer is of paramount importance: “Over the coming season it would be wonderful if all of us could be in some way be surprised by prayer,” said Jim.

Mike will still remain on the NCFL committee.
