Church team wins Norfolk Christian football trophy in first season

A team representing three Norwich churches has won the most important trophy awarded by the Norfolk Christian Football league in its very first season in the league.

Silver Road, under manager Paul Nice, is a collaboration between Silver Road Baptist Church, Meadow Way Chapel and Surrey Chapel. The team was presented with the NCFL Fellowship Trophy following their final game of the season against Stalham Baptist Church on Saturday (April 21).

Throughout the season, teams give sporting marks to their opponents and Silver Road came out on top in their very first season in the league.

League chairman, Jim Green, said: “This is the most important trophy of the season. It recognises the part teams play in making the league enjoyable to play in.

“Silver Road, under the outstanding leadership of Paul Nice, have persevered through a challenging season, learning how to lose, and in their penultimate game, how to win, gracefully. Their trophy is thoroughly deserved.”
