Youth fives brings Norfolk Christian League season to an end
The Annual Norfolk Christian Football League youth 5-a-side tournament took place on Saturday May 18 at Lavare Park with 23 teams and around 160 players taking part.
A big thank you to Old Catton FC for the use of their facilities for the day, as well as the referees who ensured an excellent competition.
In the morning, 16 under 12 teams took part in round robin and placings matches. Easton St Peters and Old Catton progressed to the final, which was won by Easton St Peters, with a goal in the last few minutes.
In the afternoon, seven teams at under 14 played a round robin, with the top two teams of Old Catton Soul and Lowestoft United reaching the final. Having lost their group match earlier, Old Catton Soul scored twice without reply in the final to win the trophy.
Also presented on the day were the Fellowship trophies, awarded for fair play over the 2018-19 season. Heigham Park Rangers were awarded the trophy for Under 12s and Surlingham Panthers for Under 14s.
League secretary Alan Barnes said: 'it is a great achievement for these teams, who have consistently upheld the values of the league over a long season and have gained regular high marks from opposition teams.”
