Network Norfolk's Artificial Intelligence policy 

Network Norfolk may use Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a practical tool to support its work. AI can help with drafting articles, improving clarity, and creating images. All AI use is guided by our values of honesty, accuracy and integrity. Human creativity, discernment and community voices remain at the heart of Network Norfolk.

Use of AI in Written Content

• Network Norfolk editors do not use generative AI to write content for its site. Our words are human-written.
• AI may be used to check grammar, structure an article and improve readability.
• It is Network Norfolk editors’ responsibility to fact-check, edit and take ultimate accountability for articles published on the site.
• All articles are reviewed and approved by a human editor before publication, including those contributed from external sources.

Use of AI‑Generated Images

• We strive to use humanly-created images where possible
• AI may be used to create or adapt images for news stories or promotional material.
• Any AI‑generated image will be labelled as such.
• If a contributor has used AI to generate an image alongside an article submission, this must be made clear so the image can be labelled appropriately on the website

Data, Privacy and Safety

• AI tools will not be used to process sensitive personal information.
• No personal data will be shared with AI systems unless strictly necessary and already public.
• AI will not be used for profiling, targeting or monitoring individuals.

Review and Updates

• This policy will be reviewed regularly as AI tools develop and as the needs of the Network Norwich & Norfolk community evolve.
